Privacy policy
Last updated .
SocialSpecSheet is a static reference site. We do not run accounts, analytics or our own user database. The only personal data we ask for is an email address if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Jake Charlesworth, trading as SocialSpecSheet (socialspecsheet.com). Contact: socialspecsheet.support@gmail.com.
Newsletter (optional)
If you subscribe via the form on this site, your email address is sent to Buttondown (Buttondown, LLC), which processes it for us so we can send the SocialSpecSheet newsletter. That newsletter covers changes to platform specs and is built from our changelog. We aim for at most one email a month, only when something changed.
Lawful basis under UK GDPR: consent. You give consent by submitting the form. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing from any newsletter email (the link is in every message) or by emailing us.
Processor: Buttondown. Their privacy policy: buttondown.com/legal/privacy.
Retention: we keep your newsletter email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
No cookies, no analytics
SocialSpecSheet sets no cookies and runs no analytics, tracking pixels or advertising scripts. Theme preference (light/dark) is stored only in your browser's localStorage under the key sss-theme; it never leaves your device and is not used for tracking. The free tools (character counter, image resizer, UTM builder, hashtag counter) run entirely in your browser and do not upload your text or images.
No accounts, no user database of our own
There are no user accounts. We do not operate a server that stores subscriber data ourselves. Newsletter addresses are held by Buttondown as described above. The site is published as static files.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Netlify (Netlify, Inc.). When you visit, Netlify may log your IP address and browser details for security and to deliver the site. Netlify handles that data under its own privacy policy: netlify.com/privacy.
International transfers
Buttondown and Netlify are based in the United States, so your data may be processed in the US. Each relies on its own safeguards for these transfers, as described in its privacy policy (linked above).
Affiliate links
Some links (currently Publer) are affiliate links: if you buy, SocialSpecSheet may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes our specs or what we list. See the affiliate disclosure. When you follow an affiliate link, the company's own site may set its own cookie so the referral is credited; that cookie is set by them, on their site, under their privacy policy — not by SocialSpecSheet.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
If we process your personal data (for example your newsletter email), you can ask to access it, correct it, erase it, restrict processing, object to processing, or receive a copy in a portable form. You can also withdraw consent for the newsletter at any time. To exercise these rights, email socialspecsheet.support@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK data protection regulator, the Information Commission's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
